Monk Datastore Overview

Introduction

The Monk datastore makes available to the higher layers of the Monk server all of the static data for the Monk texts. This includes bibliographic data, structural data, morphological tagging data, precomputed counts and other derived data, and XML and HTML versions of the texts.

The datastore implements an object model of the data. The model defines all of the static Monk objects and their attributes and relationships. It encapsulates and hides the implementation details of the datastore, currently a MySQL relational database.
