Coordination methods (and problems)

  • We have been trying to use HACKEY for discussions- with mixed success (i.e. flurries, then nothing)
  • Andrew communicates by sending emails back and forth
  • Alexandro also seems to communicate by email
  • we all get (those who chose to) a notification when a new code update is posted, via Fisheye : http://brain.lis.uiuc.edu:7575/browse/MonkWorkbench/
  • We are not really using  Jira, except Amit who uses it for his own todo list.

Discussions (OLD but still not resolved)

Saving and returning to "my stuff"  (we discussed it with Amit and Andrew)  -

It's not just saving projects and worksets...
People need to be able to save:

  • my projects
  • my worksets
  • my intermediate data
    • ratings
    • complex search criteria
  • my toolsets

Milena is working on designs so we can discuss them with Amit and Andrew
Let's use good default names for "my stuff"   (need to tell Andrew)
If you start a project called "Evil" then all those intermediate stuff is given default matching names i.e. either saved automatically or that label appears as default name:  e.g. the workset is saved as the workset "Evil" and the training set is called "evil" and he result is al "evil-searchbyexample".  If users want to spawn multiple worksets or results they can use "save as".

Dealing with tools that have alternative interfaces to accomplish a task  (need to discuss with at least Stephan and Andrew, and Amit?)
e.g. there are several tools available to select a workset (e.g. using a tree structure, or mandala, or a list etc.)

This may be saved as a toolset option?

So a single "tool-with-alternative-style" Select Workset  may be a set of 3 tools.  There is a default  tool e.g. "Select workset using a tree structure", and each tool has a way to switch to another tool in the set  (e.g. has radio buttons with all the options).
