6-29-07 Interface Cell Minutes
Attending:
Stefan, Matt B, Matt K, John, Loretta, Andrew, Mike P
PegBoard Framework:
- Local vs. Server-Side storage.
- Will probably have to be server-side.
- Stefan: Explore creating (using AJAX/DHTML libraries) a web-based, communicating, plug-in model similar to Eclipse.
- Use 2 approx. months to figure out the details of this (spread between 1 or 2 people).
- Eclipse does some things really well that we can adapt (e.g. concept of perspectives vs views, plug-ins, etc.).
- To start:
- A couple of plug-ins (to keep us honest), a collection viewer, and a text reader.
- Mike P, Matt and Alejandro will talk via. iChat next week...
Hooking up Existing Work With New Data-stores:
- Loretta: Working on D2K itineraries and Ruby scripts...
- We should all keep in mind best practices in coding styles, etc.
- Need to work as a team when making data decisions.
- Maybe create a list area for specific problems?
Saving the State:
- Came up in the last collaboration call.
- What is state and history for Monk?
- Annotation, publishing options for Monk?
- Who has access to this info?
- Where is it kept?
- We should be able to work with other people's results dynamically (with access to history).
- The ability to move through that history would then be a good learning / collaborative tool.
Other:
- Stan: To what extent do we log peoples activity for our own research?
- Need some design work for the pegboard interface - Stan has someone working on this.
- Matt K: Annotation functionality and FeatureLens...
- We need to define these features better to keep things interchangeable.
Check Out:
- Versioning Machine at Maryland
- SESAR at NCSA
Next Meeting: Fri July 13
- Two weeks from now - Friday, July 13.
